Permit Applications & Fees

Building Permits
Building a structure in Northfield starts with the process of submitting an application for a building permit to the Building Inspection Division. Most projects that require a building permit application also require building plans and specifications to be submitted. If they are not attached, the permit application will be considered incomplete, and will not be processed until the additional documents are submitted.

In addition to a completed Work Permit Application, you may also need to submit:
  • Construction plans or drawings, dimensioned and drawn on suitable material.
  • A certificate of survey clearly indicating the location of proposed work for projects such as decks, additions, and garages.
Electronic documents and plans are preferred. Larger projects may require one paper copy.
