Northfield Fire Department
The City of Northfield Fire Department provides fire suppression, prevention and investigation; emergency medical care; and other disaster emergency response services in the Northfield area and upon request to surrounding communities.
When not responding to emergency situations, firefighters take part in training and education, equipment maintenance duties and community outreach.
The Northfield City Council approved a Joint Powers Agreement for fire protection and rescue services at their April 1, 2014 City Council meeting. The agreement establishes a joint fire department that will be called the Northfield Area Fire and Rescue Service (NAFRS). The City is seeking applicants to fill volunteer positions representing the City of Northfield on the Northfield Area Fire and Rescue Services Joint Powers Board. Additional information can be found on the Joint Powers Board page.
