The City of Northfield provides for the maintenance of city streets, including patching, seal coating, street sweeping, traffic control signals/signage, streetlights, storm sewer maintenance and snow removal. To view the City Street Base Map, click here.
Downtown Parking Policies
Residents of the downtown area are subject to all parking regulations as defined in the Northfield City Code, Chapter 78 and the Municipal Parking Lot Permit and Parking Policy for Declared Snowplowing Emergencies, Revised 9/23/2005. Downtown Parking Policies Downtown Parking Lots Map
Streetlights
To report a non-functioning streetlight, call the Streets and Parks Division or fill out the Streetlight Trouble form.
Permits related to the right-of-way and driveway/sidewalk construction are handled by the City of Northfield Engineering Division. Dumpster Permits are handled by the Streets, Parks and Facilities Division.
Potholes
To report a street pothole in need of repair, call the Streets and Parks Division or fill out the Potholes form.
Stop Signs
The City has established a traffic all-way stop control policy which provides a procedure to respond to requests for all-way stop control in residential neighborhoods. Stop Control Packet
Seasonal Load Limits
The City follows the Mn/DOT seasonal load limit restrictions for all city streets. See the Mn/DOT website for more information about the current seasonal load limits on MN and city streets.
