Yard Waste Collection

Spring Pick Up April 5 - May 7, 2010
Fall Pick Up September 27 - October 29, 2010

Yard waste (leaves, grass clippings and garden/flower waste) is collected curbside seasonally (spring and fall) if waste is contained in Waste Management biodegradable paper bags. Pickup is made at the same time as scheduled garbage collection times. Bags can be purchased at Northfield Waste Management and other local businesses and grocery stores. Compost Site

Tuesday - Friday 2PM - 7PM (or sunset)
Saturday 8AM - 5PM (or sunset)
Sunday 12 noon - 5PM (or sunset)

The Compost Site will close at the stated time or sunset which ever is earlier!

Northfield residents may take all yard wastes, including brush, branches and shrubbery to the City of Northfield compost site during scheduled hours. Limb size must be less than six inches in circumference. Finished compost is also available for pickup at the site. Businesses and contractors should contact the Streets and Parks Division for information about commercial yard waste disposal.

The compost site is located between Northfield and Dundas on Armstrong Road, just south of Sechler Park. The compost site is generally open April through October.

Rice County Landfill

The Rice County solid waste landfill site also accepts yard waste. The landfill is located halfway between Northfield and Faribault, off of Highway 3 approximately one mile east on 145th Street East.
