Education
Activities and Programs

The Northfield Public Library offers several activities and small group opportunities for children, teens, and adults. All activities and programs are free and open to all.

Adults
Throughout the year, the library hosts interesting presentations, hands-on classes, reading programs, speakers and author talks. For additional information check the library’s adult blogs, What’s Upstairs @ the Library
and the Readers' Corner, or call to talk to a librarian at 507-645-1802.

Books & Stars
A uniquely Northfield offering, Books and Stars is a program of free family fun entertainment in different city parks on Wednesday evenings during June, July, and early August. Booker, the Bookbus will be parked nearby, allowing audience members to check out books or return library materials before or after the show. Additional information about performers and locations is available at the library or on our blog.

Children
A visit to the local library is one of the best ways to get a child interested in reading and lifelong learning. The Northfield Library offers library programs for children of all ages every day of the week. Watch for special No-School and Summer Reading Programs.

Summer Reading Programs
The Northfield Library offers a Summer Reading Program for young students, preschool through fifth grade, and a Teen Summer Reading Program for students who have graduated fifth grade through high school. Studies have shown that students who read throughout the summer retain more of their previous year’s learning and suffer less from summer learning loss. Fun activities, special programs, and incentives for making reading goals keep kids reading through June and July. Stop by the library in late May for additional information or read about children's events and thank the Friends of the Library for supporting this program!

Teens
Teens have a say at the Northfield Public Library through the library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB). TAB kids plan teen programming and help shape the young adult materials collection. All area teens are welcome to attend meetings held the first Monday of the month. More information about teen programs and teen reading can be found on the TABleau blog.
