Library Services

Homebound Services

The Northfield Public Library provides a homebound selection and delivery service to people who are unable to travel to the library. Volunteers or library staff members select items from the library at the request of the patrons. Volunteers then deliver and pick up the items for return. This service also involves delivery of about 30 to 40 items to collections at Three Links Apartments and Northfield Manor. These collections are changed about every six weeks.

To request homebound service or to volunteer, call the library and ask for Barb, the homebound services coordinator.

First Steps Literacy Center

First Steps is a parent/caregiver-directed activity center where toddlers and preschoolers are surrounded by alphabet-learning devices, concept books (about colors, shapes, numbers and letter sounds), early reader storybooks and puzzles. Bilingual books in both Spanish and English are also available. The center is staffed part-time with library staff and community volunteers. Adults must accompany children.

Located in a section of the library’s meeting room, First Steps is open Monday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 10 am to 12 noon. Call the library for more information.
