Completed-2009 Mill Towns Trail Bridge

Engineering

Update: The bridge was closed for two days this week during the application of a corrosion-resistant sealant for the concrete surface. The bridge is now open for use (10/22/2009). Check the July Photos page for new images.

The City with assistance of the Friends of the Mill Towns Trail has secured federal funding for the connection of two segments of the Mill Towns Trail.

Work is progressing on the Mill Towns Trail Bridge and Trail project. The bridge sections were delivered to the site in mid-April, assembled, and installed over the river on April 27, 2009 (see link to video below). With the bridge set, work continued on the trail and retaining wall pieces of the project.

The trail and bridge became available for public use on July 30, 2009. Some minor landscaping and clea-up work continue. Please keep your distance from construction areas and allow the contractors to complete their work.

On May 4, 2009 the City Council approved the reccomendation to name the bridge after Peggy Prowe, a long-time supporter of the Mill Towns Trail in the Northfield area.
