5th Street and Water Street Parking Lot

Update: The final layer of asphalt will be laid in late May - early June, 2009.

The City of Northfield will conduct street and utility improvements including storm sewer, watermain, street reconstruction, parking lot reconstruction, crosswalk and streetscape improvements to 5th Street from Water Street to Washington Street and the Water Street Parking Lot. Specifically the project involves:

• Bituminous street and parking lot removal and reconstruction;
• Parking lot reconfiguration;
• Reconstruction of concrete curb and gutter;
• Replacement of storm sewer pipe, manholes and catch basins;
• Replacement of watermain, valves, and hydrants;
• Sidewalk and streetscape enhancements;
• Street tree plantings;
• Pedestrian promenade design and construction;
• Cannon River edge improvements;
