Projects
Completed-2009 1st Street Improvements
EngineeringUpdate: Work is complete for the 2009 construction season aside from minor clean-up jobs. All pipes, sidewalks, curbs and streets have been built. The asphalt surface will sit over the winter. Any sags or problems with the sub-grade will be repaired in Spring 2010 and the final wear-course of asphalt will be applied.
The City of Northfield will conduct street and utility improvements including watermain, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, street reconstruction, and associated boulevard restoration along 1st Street from Madison Street to Linden St. and the block of 1st St. west of Lincoln St. In addition, portions of Orchard St. and Plum St. between St. Olaf Ave. and 2nd St. were added from the initial scope of work because of the location of their existing services, and proximity to the initial project. New storm and sanitary sewer lines will be installed along Linden St. to connect the new 1st St. lines to existing lines along 2nd St.
Project Corridor
- 1st St. W from the dead end west of Lincoln St. to Linden St.
- Orchard Street from St. Olaf Ave. to 2nd St.
- Plum St. from St. Olaf Ave. to 2nd St.

Current Work
The Project Website at Bolton & Menk, the consulting engineers, has more details and updates.
As we prepare for construction, we will set up individual meetings with property owners along the project area. We use this meeting to assist in determining service locations, landscaping concerns, and other details specific to the individual property. We have set aside half-hour blocks during the week of April 20th to conduct these on-site meetings. Please contact Engineering to set up a meeting time.
