Description

Mayor Mary Rossing and the City Council are seeking applicants to fill volunteer positions on City advisory boards, commissions and committees. At the end of December, the terms of several members of the City’s boards, commissions and committees will expire. There will be openings for members on the Arts & Culture Commission, Charter Commission, Economic Development Authority, Environmental Quality Commission, Grace Whittier Fund Committee, Heritage Preservation Commission, Hospital Board, Human Rights Commission, Library Board, Park and Recreation Advisory Board, Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals and the Rental Housing/Building Code Board of Appeals. Over 100 citizen members annually provide valuable leadership to the City through their participation on these groups and special study committees. As the titles of the groups suggest, the members participate in advisory, regulatory, governance and oversight activities in a wide variety of fields. The City Council is committed to appointing citizens who represent diverse qualifications and viewpoints and values the knowledge, collective experience and efforts of these groups. The application review process will begin December 18, 2009. Applications may be turned in throughout the year, however those wanting to be considered for openings at the beginning of 2010 should submit applications by December 18, 2009. Additional information and applications may be obtained in the Administration Office, City Hall, 801 Washington Street, Northfield, MN 55057, at the Northfield Public Library, by calling Assistant to City Administrator Jennifer Nash at 507-645-3022 or via e-mail at Jennifer.Nash@ci.northfield.mn.us
