2016 TH 246 and Jefferson Parkway Intersection Study


The City of Northfield is studying the intersection of Trunk Highway 246 and Jefferson Parkway. The goal of the study is to identify improvements that alleviate peak hour congestion, improve pedestrian and bike access, improve school ingress/egress and safety.

Public Input

The City will hold a public open house on June 15, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Northfield City Hall Council Chambers, 801 Washington Street, to hear from you.

Please share any thoughts and concerns you may have with the intersection of Trunk Highway 246 and Jefferson Parkway, school ingress and egress for vehicles, bikes, and pedestrians at Northfield High School, Northfield Middle School and Bridgewater Elementary.

Improvement 1- Roundabout at Jefferson Parkway and TH 246 with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at pedestrian crossings.

Improvement 4- Modify the pickup and drop off at Bridgewater Elementary due to vehicles backing out onto Jefferson Parkway during afternoon school pickup. Vehicles would now enter off Trunk Highway 246 and exit on to Jefferson Parkway.

Improvement 5- Extended left turn lane onto Raider Drive on Jefferson Parkway.
