Growing Local: Northfield Emerging Leaders Program
Our community needs strong, capable, diverse leadership to remain vibrant now and in the future. This program is designed to help emerging leaders be ready to join boards, commissions and committees in our community.
Gain skills and support
Build confidence to successfully engage in your local government
Gain a network and broaden your connections of common interest.
Strengthen your leadership skills and gain new tools to use in your leadership and life.
This program is for residents in the Northfield area from historically under-represented groups such as people of color, indigenous people, people living with disabilities, LGBTQ+ and others who have not yet actively participated in local boards, commissions or committees but who are interested in exploring future leadership opportunities.
18 years or older
Be able to speak and read English
Have transportation to and from the sessions
Be able to commit to attending all program sessions and related activities
Participants will be paired with an experienced coach for co-learning and networking.
No fee to participate!
Participants will receive a gift card to help offset costs of some expenses associated with participation in the program.
Dates, location and session topics
The 2020 Growing Local: Northfield Emerging Leaders program has finished for the year. Thank you so much to all the 15 participants, 15 coaches, University of Minnesota Extension Educators, Healthy Community Initiative, Northfield Public Schools, the City of Northfield and Northfield Shares for supporting this effort. We plan to continue offering these trainings but are taking a pause right now until spring 2021 to determine what format might be possible.
