Northfield Public Library
Celebrating the past while anticipating and planning for the future, the Northfield Public Library’s historic building downtown offers a welcoming, public gathering place and provides up-to-date technology and resources to an education and arts-oriented community. Whether you’re looking for a book or print periodical in the library or downloading an e-book or magazine, using the wireless Internet in one of the library’s comfortable reading rooms or searching for family history from the comfort of your home, you will find the Northfield Public Library is buzzing with activity and opportunity.
The Northfield Public Library is an independent member of Southeastern Libraries Cooperating (SELCO), which provides automation services and electronic resources, as well as traditional ground delivery of materials shared among libraries. SELCO is also Northfield’s link to libraries all over the state of Minnesota – and a Northfield Public Library card is good not only at all other SELCO locations but also at most other Minnesota public libraries.
Hard Work & Customer Service
The library is a pillar of education providing self-directed education, research assistance and instruction, and instructive and enlightening experiences for students of all ages. Activities needed to make these educational and enrichment services possible include selecting, purchasing, organizing, cataloging, processing and circulating books, magazines, newspapers, audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs, and electronic resources for the use of the community as well as free, public Internet access. Library staff members offer superior customer service to the community and they actively participate in a variety of collaborative literacy programs.
