Crews mobilized to the site this week, and began work on Stage 1 of the project.  City Council also held the Assessment Hearing at the May 1, 2018 City Council Meeting.  The hearing was closed, and assessments are scheduled for adoption on May 15, 2018.  Please keep an eye on your mail, if assessments are adopted, a transmittal letter will be mailed shortly thereafter, detailing the assessment payment options.

Please see the project updates for each construction stage below.

Stage 1- Division Street from Sixth Street to Eight Street
Removal crews were on-site the entire week working on tree removals, bituminous and concrete street removals, and other various removals in anticipation of utility installations.  Traffic control crews were also on-site this week setting up traffic signs closing Stage 1, and also installing a detour for Stage 1.  Some additional information signs were added per the request of business owners to aid in access to areas affected by the closure.

Next week, utility crews will be on-site to begin sanitary sewer installations on Stage 1.  Crews expect to begin near the intersection of Sixth Street  and Division Street and work their way south towards Eighth Street.  This work will require trench excavations to install the new sanitary sewer lines.  Crews also expect to begin installing new watermains on Stage 1 later next week.  This process will involve the installation of temporary water to properties on Stage 1.  More information regarding the temporary water will be distributed to the affected properties next week.

Stage 2 - Seventh Street from Water Street to Washington Street
No work is scheduled for Stage 2 next week.

Stage 3 - Washington Street Mill and Overlay and Parking Lot Construction
No work is scheduled on Stage 3 next week.

Nate Becker, City of Northfield will be the project representative.  Nate can be reached by phone at (507) 291-6490 or via email at Nate.Becker@ci.northfield.mn.us
